International Women’s Day – Spotlight on Caroline Raman
International Women’s Day – Spotlight on Caroline Raman
In our last March posting to celebrate “International Women’s Day”, we turned the spotlight on Caroline Raman, one of our European Directors.
Caroline took up this role in 2006 following a career in audit and finance, so we asked – “Caroline, how did you adapt to working in a very operational and dynamic environment like Integra compared to being a partner in an audit firm?”
Caroline’s answer was: “When I first joined, I found the working environment to be very different. I slowly learned to adapt by learning the industry lingo, understanding the type of business, thinking globally and focusing on the “Big Picture” rather than drowning in details. My analytical nature and being a former competitive basketball player, helped me face the challenges head on.
Based on her long experience of the company, “What would you say to women thinking of a career in a company like Integra?”
Caroline’s answer was “Dare to be the change. Don’t be afraid to fail but be afraid not to try. From the outside, it looks like a very male dominated industry but, I can assure anybody that certainly Integra does not see gender, age, sexuality or ethnicity as in its employment or recruitment culture. We have a really lovely big mix of people and backgrounds in Integra and that makes it challenging at times but also very enriching and fun. “
She concluded “There will be challenges joining any new organization but once you overcome those what is important is that you are encouraged to grow as a person, learning from the challenges and being empowered and given the space to make the change.”
